The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has announced it will be bringing its renowned ECDIS seminars to next week’s SMM maritime trade fair in Hamburg. They will focus on ECDIS Implementation, Policy and Procedures and are free to attend for all SMM delegates.
Led by Captain Paul Hailwood, an internationally renowned expert on ECDIS and integrated bridge operations, the UKHO’s ECDIS seminars have been designed to give all parties within the shipping industry a better understanding of how best to implement ECDIS on board, including compliance with SOLAS regulations on the carriage of ECDIS and port state control requirements.
Attendees will be able to submit their ECDIS questions in advance and throughout the seminar and will also receive complimentary ADMIRALTY reference material.
Speaking ahead of SMM, Captain Paul Hailwood said: “ECDIS can play a pivotal role in supporting safe, compliant and efficient navigation, but the implementation process is complex. It is imperative that all parties in the shipping industry have a clear understanding of how ECDIS operating procedures should be incorporated into onboard safety management systems, safety procedures and risk assessments. I would encourage everyone attending SMM to come along to our seminars to learn more and to have their ECDIS questions answered.”
