Captain Paul Hailwood, UKHO ECDIS SeminarThe United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has announced it will be holding a series of seminars on ECDIS Implementation, Policy and Procedures at next week’s Posidonia exhibition in Athens.

The seminars will be free to attend for all Posidonia delegates and will be supported by demonstrations of the full range of ADMIRALTY nautical products and services at the UKHO’s stand.

Led by Captain Paul Hailwood, an internationally renowned expert on ECDIS and integrated bridge operations, the UKHO’s ECDIS seminars have been designed to help give all parties within the shipping industry a better understanding of how best to implement ECDIS onboard, including compliance with SOLAS regulations on the carriage of ECDIS and port state control requirements.

The ‘ECDIS Implementation, Policies and Procedures’ seminar will be held twice a day at Posidonia, at 1.15pm and 4.30pm on Tuesday 3rd , Wednesday 4th June and Thursday 5th June, in the Posidonia meeting room.  Attendees will be able to submit their specific ECDIS questions in advance and throughout the seminar and will be provided with complimentary ADMIRALTY reference material.

Speaking ahead of next week’s Posidonia seminars, Captain Paul Hailwood said:“Whether a ship owner, a fleet manager, a bridge officer or a regulator, it is important that all parties involved in the shipping industry have a clear understanding of how ECDIS operating procedures should be incorporated into onboard safety management systems, safety procedures and risk assessments. ECDIS can play a pivotal role in supporting safe, compliant and efficient shipping and I would encourage anyone attending Posidonia to come along to our seminars, where they can have their ECDIS questions answered.”
