Maritime platform The Hood launches Women in Shipping series
As part of International Women’s History Month, social media platform, The Hood, is highlighting the voices of women across the maritime industry, through its ‘Women in Shipping’ series.
The series highlights the realities of working in the maritime industry for women both onboard and on land, whose experiences are sometimes overlooked. Despite greater progress being made in the industry in recent times, it is widely reported that women do continue to face challenges, such as gender bias and concerns about their safety.
Featuring a series of interviews with inspiring women in the industry from all levels, including Gὒven Kale, Chief Clinical Officer at Mental Health Support Solutions (MHSS); Abigail Chin, Second Officer; and Nicki Reasonable, a stewardess, and others. Each shares their own perspective on what a career in maritime means to them and how they believe the industry can continue to evolve to attract more women.
