Carl Schou has been appointed President of Wilhelmsen Ship Management, succeeding the public and controversial figure Geir Sekkesaeter in the post.
Schou has been acting President since August 2008 but the confirmed appointment will take effect from November 1st this year.
He graduated from the Maritime University College in Oslo and has also done graduate studies at the Norwegian School of Management (BI). He previously worked for Det norske Veritas (DNV); the ship owning company DYVI AS and Techmar Systems.
Carl Schou joined the WW group in 2005 as Crew Manager for Barber Ship Management’s Transpetrol fleet. In January 2008 he was appointed Vice President Wilhelmsen Marine Personnel, where he had overall responsibility for the global network of manning agencies as well as functional responsibility for the Crew Coordination Centres within Wilhelmsen Ship Management.
