Programme announced for Thames river celebrations

London EyeThe full programme has been announced for an exciting new month-long celebration of the Thames, aimed at putting the 42-mile London stretch of the river at the heart of the capital’s cultural and tourism industry.

Totally Thames, which runs throughout September, will be an annual 30-day spectacular of events including arts, colourful regattas, river races and music as well as river-linked activities run by charities and voluntary organisations across the 17 London riverside boroughs.

It is being delivered by the Thames Festival Trust in partnership with London First, London & Partners, the Mayor’s official promotional organisation for London, the Mayor of London and dozens of partners.

Events include the Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Festival (5th to 9th September) when the Royal Borough of Greenwich will host the largest fleet of Tall Ships to visit London in 25 years; the Great River Race which attracts more than 300 crews from all over the globe (27th) and Handel’s Fireworks Music and Illuminations (14th).
