His outstanding contribution to the advancement and promotion of merchant shipping in Cyprus saw Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement’s Non-Executive Chairman Andreas Droussiotis pick up the Personality Award 2011 at the recent Maritime Cyprus conference in Limassol.
The award, one of two bestowed every two years at the event, was presented to a surprised Mr Droussiotis by the Minister of Communications and Works, Mr Efthemios Flourentzou on behalf of the President.
He was chosen for reasons which included his contribution towards specific initiatives to develop shipping activities in Cyprus and the increase in the number of vessels registered in the Cyprus Registry, and for improving safety standards on Cyprus flagged vessels.
The Selection Committee also recognised his continuous contribution to the education and training of seafarers onboard Cyprus flagged vessels and the establishment and development of the Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement Maritime Training Centre.
