Odfjell Tankers contracts Inchcape Shipping Services to manage fleet

Norwegian-based Odfjell Tankers has appointed marine management company Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) in a major new global hub agency contract, which will manage services for over 4,000 annual port calls worldwide.

A major player in the global transportation and storage of chemicals and petroleum products, Odfjell’s specialised fleet currently stands at 92 vessels and nine newbuildings, with total capacity of around 2.9m dwt.

The new contract with ISS will oversee the complete management of Odfjell’s tankers at every single international port call, working closely with port agents and monitoring their performance through established Key Performance Indicators, while seeking continuous cost-reducing improvements.

Odfjell Tankers’ Sigmund Larsen commented: “Our goal is to streamline all operational, financial and administrative aspects of the port stay. Odfjell’s overall objectives are to reduce costs, reduce time and improve performance in port as well as enhance customer satisfaction by continuous monitoring of agent and vessel performance in port, electronic disbursement account handling and thus, increased profitability.”

ISS Group CEO, Claus Hyldager, said: “The benefits provided by our hub management system and the ISS approach of further consolidating the technology were amongst the factors in the award of this contract, and these assets will deliver the improvements in efficiency that Odfjell is seeking.”
