Ocean Technologies Group and LR OneOcean strengthen commitment to the Philippines with new combined Manila office

Ocean Technologies Group (OTG), global leader in maritime Human Capital Management technologies, and maritime digital solutions provider LR OneOcean, have officially opened a combined office in Manila. The launch follows the merger of OTG and LR OneOcean as part of OTG’s acquisition by Lloyd’s Register (LR) in November, and reinforces LR’s commitment to enabling maritime professionals to meet the industry’s twin challenges of digitalisation and decarbonisation, with particular focus on enabling seafarers to work safely with new fuels.

The opening of the new combined OTG and LR OneOcean office and centre of excellence underscores the companies’ dedication to strengthening connections with the world’s largest seafarer supply region. By consolidating resources, expertise, and technologies, the group is now better positioned to support the evolving needs of their many partners in the Philippines and wider area.

This announcement builds upon a landmark collaboration, launched in February between LR OneOcean, the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), and Philippines’ Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) which saw the organisations sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), launching a pilot project to integrate seafarer certification systems and develop a new mobile application.

This initiative aims to reduce administrative burdens associated with paper-based endorsement and verification processes while improving efficiency for key industry stakeholders, including flag administrations, Port State Control, seafarers, and ship management companies.

Speaking at the launch, Nicholas Goubert (pictured, left), Co-CEO of OTG/LR OneOcean said: “This moment marks the beginning of an exciting new era — one where two of the most innovative maritime digital solutions providers come together. By uniting our strengths, we are positioned to better serve the global maritime economy, delivering cutting-edge solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

“As part of the Lloyd’s Register Group, we are anchored by a deep heritage of maritime expertise. This connection gives us a unique opportunity to accelerate our impact across the industry, offering even greater support to our clients as they navigate the complexities of today’s maritime landscape and prepare their teams to work safely and efficiently in a multi-fuelled future. With the Asia-Pacific region playing a vital role in the industry, having a strong presence here is more important than ever.”

He added: “As home to hundreds of thousands of skilled seafarers, the Philippines is essential to the industry’s success. This office symbolises our commitment to supporting seafarers’ well-being, career development, and operational excellence. Our recent Memorandum of Understanding with ICS and MARINA is a clear example of collaboration in the region as we work together to create innovative solutions that empower seafarers with better career management and personal development opportunities.”

The office, situated in the prime location of the Business Central District, will serve as a central operational hub for the combined OTG and LR OneOcean team, allowing them to provide more face to face support and forge stronger relationships with Filipino partners and local representatives of its customers worldwide.

Customer enablement is a major priority with refresher sessions on how to use the group’s software solutions already taking place in the state-of-the-art training rooms and Mr Goubert described the facility as “more than just a workplace” telling guests: “It will be a centre for team building, learning and connection. By bringing together the expertise and culture of both organizations, we are creating a foundation for even greater innovation, service, and success.”
