Gulftainer receives IMO Secretary-General at its Iraq Container Terminal
UAE-based Gulftainer recently welcomed the Secretary-General of the IMO, H.E. Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, to its Iraq Container Terminal (ICT), underscoring its commitment to international maritime standards and operational excellence.
The IMO Secretary-General was received by Gulftainer’s Regional Manager – Business Development, Ibrahim Serhan, and Managing Director – Gulftainer Iraq, Nic Gray.
During the visit, Serhan provided a comprehensive overview of Gulftainer’s operations, highlighting the company’s adherence to IMO standards and its global footprint in port and logistics management. He also shared insights into the company's significant achievements and records.
The IMO Secretary-General commended Gulftainer’s commitment to international maritime best practices, praising its implementation of IMO standards and operational efficiency.
Accompanying H.E. Mr. Dominguez were prominent Iraqi officials, including the Minister of Transport, H.E. Mr. Razzaq Muhebs Al-Saadawi; the Governor of Basra, H.E. Mr. Assad Al-Eidani; the Iraqi Ambassador to the United Kingdom and IMO, H.E. Mr. Mohammad Jafar Al-Sadr; and the Director General of the General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI), Dr. Farhan Al-Furtousi.
In recognition of the occasion, Serhan, on behalf of Gulftainer’s board, presented H.E. Mr. Dominguez with a trophy symbolizing a traditional Arabic ship (pictured), reflecting the region’s rich maritime heritage.
