MOL positions safe operation as a social commitment and the highest priority in all of its business activities, as the company forges ahead to become the world leader in safe operation. As part of these efforts, President Muto, executives, and other personnel will conduct an extensive series of visits to MOL-operated vessels in Japan and overseas. During the visits, they will meet with onboard employees who are responsible for on-site safe operation and exchange information and opinions about ways to prevent safety-related incidents.
Proposals and ideas gained through this campaign, which is held twice a year with a different theme, will be shared throughout the MOL Group and among group-operated vessels, to further enhance the group’s safe-operation structure.
The campaign period will last from today (Wednesday) to 30th November 2014 and the main aim is to increase safety awareness regarding onboard fires by introducing a case study of an incident that occurred on an MOL-operated vessel and then encouraging discussions focusing on safe behaviour and everyday actions that help reduce the risk of fires.
The campaign will also introduce the Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) method, which establishes safety by cultivating subconscious factors in human behaviour to increase “safe behaviour” and reduce “unsafe behaviour.” This campaign is aimed at instilling a strong consciousness of safety among all MOL Group employees at sea and on land, promoting teamwork, and fostering a group-wide appreciation of safe operation as the top priority.
It will target MOL-operated vessels (dry bulkers, tankers, LNG carriers, car carriers, containerships) and MOL Group company-operated vessels (ferries, cruise ships, etc).
