As part of London International Shipping Week (LISW), Nautilus International is teaming up with the Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB) and UK Chamber of Shipping to answer one of its members’ most frequently asked questions – So where are the jobs?

In the last two years there have been a number of industry reports highlighting a global shortage of seafarers, but for many Nautilus members – especially those who lost their jobs in the oil downturn or who recently completed their cadetship – this global demand is a long way from their local reality.

On Tuesday 12th September, Nautilus will bring together representatives from Government, industry and maritime professionals to provide an insight into where to look UK seafarers can successfully secure future employment.

This panel discussion and audience debate will cover seafarer employment and training statistics and projections, economic drivers and market forces, job creation and recruitment.

It will form part of a day-long ‘LISW skills and careers hub’ which will also see debates on fair treatment and inclusivity at sea, and an exhibition of the opportunities available at sea.
