Law firms to merge

International law firms Clyde & Co and Barlow Lyde & Gilbert are to merge on November 1st.

The combined company will be known as Clyde & Co and will have 270 partners, 1,300 lawyers and fee earners and 2,350 total staff operating from 27 offices worldwide.

It claims it will be one of the top two dispute resolution practices of any leading UK firm offering in-depth focus and expertise in core sectors including trade and shipping.

Clyde & Co has significant business in Asia, with particular strengths in dispute resolution and insurance in Hong Kong and mainland China. It also has a long-established practice in the Middle East and a rapidly expanding presence across the US, Canada and South America.
