German Mechanics and Offshore and harbour repair specialists German Ship Repair have joined forces to launch GSR German Ship Repair.

The new GSR German Ship Repair will start its work on 1st May 2018. At the location Kleiner Westring 19 in Bremerhaven, the GSR German Ship Repair combines traditional craftsmanship with answers to the future challenges in the maritime sector, worldwide.

German Ship Repair and German Mechanics and Offshore have been working closely together in the maritime service sector for a long time. German Ship Repair is specialised in mobile repairs in the harbour and at sea and is in operation worldwide. In addition to repairs of all kinds, German Ship Repair has specialized primarily in the mobile retrofitting and conversion of ship systems. German Mechanics and Offshore offers a variety of trades such as chipping, turning, pipe work and mechanical engineering. In addition, the company can look back on a whole series of special projects (including Alexander von Humboldt II, Ostfriesland, Nostag 10) and yacht interior work.

The Bremerhaven ship specialists see the merger as a response to the rapidly growing challenges for the maritime industry in the global market.

“The step into a joint company serves the consistent course for optimising customer requirements and our own market position,” emphasised Stefan Himme, Managing Director of German Ship Repair & Co. In future, the new company will combine the business activities under one roof. “We are operating in an international competition in which we will position ourselves on a solid base with a broad and global service portfolio and a flexible team on land and at sea,” said Arndt Lohner, CEO of the German Mechanics and Offshore.

It is hoped that by joining forces, the new company will be able to offer customers the complete services related to shipping even more efficiently than before.
