Familiar maritime industry figure Jordan Wylie is in Afghanistan on the final leg of his gruelling Running Dangerously challenge to raise money for the education of children in three war-torn countries.

The former British soldier and now maritime security consultant, author and ‘Be Cyber Aware at Sea’ campaigner, sees him attempt to complete a 10K, half marathon and full marathon in some of the most dangerous countries in the world – Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan.

His mission is to raise awareness of three charities (one for each country) – the Darlington Gacmadheere Foundation in Somalia, Unicef in Iraq and War Child in Afghanistan.

Jordan, who is a father himself to eight-year-old Evie Grace, aims to raise a minimum of £100,000 to support the education of three children, one from each country for each charity.

He posted on Twitter yesterday (Wednesday), ‘Still alive and #RunningDangerously. It’s been an incredible journey so far and I have discovered some of the true natural beauty of Afghanistan but my objective remains the same – provide education to children affected by war and conflict!’
