Maritime services provider Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has announced the appointment of Jason Leonard as Global HSSE Manager.
Based at the company’s headquarters in Chafford Hundred, Essex and reporting to Ian Tombs, Head of Corporate Services, Mr Leonard will be responsible for managing, implementing and overseeing all areas of health, safety and environment, whilst working to mitigate and control business risks globally.
Mr Leonard was previously employed by Aecom in the capacity of Director of Safety, Health & Environment and has worked for a variety of international blue-chip companies in utilities, healthcare, oil & gas, FMCG manufacturing, and finance, over the last 20 years managing non-financial risk on a global scale.
He holds a first degree in Human Biological Sciences, an MSc in Ergonomics, an MBA from Henley Management College, and professional diplomas in environment, occupational safety & health, and sustainability. In addition, he has published in various areas in relation to his work, focused around culture, risk management, corporate social responsibility and management systems.
ISS recently enhanced its HSSE credentials by achieving Achilles FPAL, ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO18001 accreditation for ISS-Palumbo in December 2013. These recognised industry standards which are now a pre-requisite for doing business in the markets in which ISS operates, particularly the energy sector, demonstrate ISS’ intention to set the highest standards. This recent success is the first stage of a phased roll out across its operations into other business streams, such as ISS’ core port agency and cargo services.
Mr Tombs said: “ISS provides an extensive range of services to customers in every key port around the world. We are determined to not only meet our clients’ HSSE standards, but to surpass their expectations. Jason is a welcome addition to the team and brings experience and expertise which will be key to ensuring that ISS remains a market leader.”
