The Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) is to launch its newly-designed website and a mobile application, for modern, seamless user experience, today (Wednesday).
The revamped website which is compatible on all devices, is visually more appealing, with improved content layout, but at the same time, maintaining the ‘IRClass’ brand experience. This allows richer content to be delivered to the IRClass’ audience, with faster response times.
The launch date of today coincides with the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) World Maritime Day which is celebrated by the shipping industry around the world.
Using an advanced content management system, the website now has a greater flexibility in content management, and updates are 50% faster.
Webpages of the new site are mapped so there is ease of navigation, enhancing user experience. To cite a few examples: member Login and Service Request forms are made fully responsive; new application for types and works approval; on every service page, users are prompted to reach IRClass via email; better integration with social media for users to connect with IRClass on various platforms.
Vijay Arora, Joint Managing Director of IRClass, said: “With the new website, IRClass is sharing more information than ever before. Our loyal customers, as well as any visitor to the site can now see IRClass, and what we can do in a convenient snapshot.
“This website and mobile app means IRClass is at the cutting edge of digital technology. We understand that this is the future for our industry and indeed the whole world, and we aim to continue to be at the forefront of this change.”
The IRClass Maritime mobile application, will allow ship owners and managers to conveniently monitor their fleet and stay informed; anytime and anywhere.
The mobile application allows users to search any vessel classed with IRClass, and view basic vessel information, along with publicly available survey status and certificate information. This gives ship owners and managers the convenience of marking their ships as ‘Favourites’.
Users will be kept up-to-date with the latest IRClass news, technical circulars (for technical and regulatory news and updates) and rule changes, which can be found on the mobile application.
Requests for surveys, audits and inspections, can also be done through the mobile application simply by filling up a short request form. This feature is under development and will be available shortly.
Coming soon is a notification feature for users who log in with their IRClass Member Login credentials. This notification feature allows them to be alerted to any suspension, deletion or withdrawal.
Contact information for IRClass office and its personnel worldwide are also readily available on the mobile application.
The IRClass mobile application is only available on the Google PlayStore for Android smartphone users, for now. It will soon be available on the Apple Store for iPhone and iPod Touch users within two to three weeks.
