Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has announced key changes to management organisational roles, as the international ship classification society plans for considerable future growth. With the pandemic slowly receding and businesses gradually return to normal, IRClass is focussing on its most important asset – it’s human resources.

As maritime sector is constantly evolving, the changes necessitate a transformational leadership in order to drive the organisation forward in an increasingly complex environment. To facilitate this, IRClass has conducted a competency assessment of its key resources, to chart a growth path for a younger generation of leaders and to identify next generation leadership towards building a resilient and future ready organisation.

Recent changes include the appointment of new Technical and Divisional Heads with the operational team being strengthened with three new Regional Managers on top the current four. Additionally, the ‘Research & Innovation Centre’ has been split into two independent divisions: ‘Rule Development Associated Research and External Affairs’ and ‘Research & Development’.

Mr. Arun Sharma, Executive Chairman of IRCLass (pictured) said, “Professional development is an important element in nurturing our pool of resources and therefore a structured training program has been arranged through an internationally recognised provider. With consistent fleet growth and rising complexities in the classification business, these initiatives will place IRClass in a strong position to meet the future challenges.”
