The International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) has announced that its latest International Mass Rescue Conference (G4), will be held on 11th-13th June 2017 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
This is the fourth of the IMRF’s international conferences on maritime mass rescue operations, known as the ‘Gothenburg Series’. The conferences are hosted by the Swedish Sea Rescue Society.
Major incidents severely test the capabilities of the responding emergency services; even more so when rescue or relief efforts involve operations on the water. The 2010 and 2012 conferences in the Gothenburg series, and the 2011 World Maritime Rescue Congress in Shanghai, China, helped to highlight and address many of these challenges.
The 2014 conference (G3) focused on the development and sharing of practical solutions to the previously identified problems, such as, integrating the preparation and planning efforts of all stakeholders, including industry, enhancing incident coordination and establishing supportive response systems, improving cohesion between all stakeholders to optimise response capability.
