Epic Gas announced today (Wednesday) that it has contracted to build two additional 11,000cbm fully-pressurised gas carriers at Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation in Japan. This follows the announcement in December that Epic Gas had placed a previous order for two similar-sized vessels from Kyokuyo.
Lars Vang Christensen, CEO of Epic Gas, said: “We are delighted to continue our relationship with Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation. With these latest additions we continue to grow our fleet with the largest vessels in the pressurised segment.”
The two ships are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2016 and in the first quarter of 2017. This latest order will bring Epic Gas’ count of similar-sized newbuilds to six vessels including two ships to be chartered in from Kumiai Senpaku.
