A&P Falmouth has experienced a very busy November which has seen all three of its dry docks full and all its wharves occupied by a combination of commercial shipping, ferries and MoD vessels.
Ferry operators Red Funnel and Condor Ferries both have a commercial partnership with A&P Falmouth and subsequently both sent vessels to Falmouth for drydocking. Condor Liberation, a high-speed passenger and car carrying trimaran, is nearing the end of her annual refit while Red Funnel’s Red Eagle, a Raptor-Class RO-RO ferry, has recently arrived on tow from Southampton for her refit.
A&P Falmouth’s innovative commercial partnership agreement scheme has been strategically developed to offer a raft of benefits to clients in terms of efficiency, cost savings and budget security. The partnerships involve A&P Falmouth working in close collaboration with the ferry companies to boost efficiency and reduce downtime while maintaining their fleet of vessels.
Wightlink RO-RO ferry Wight Light was recently returned to service after its successful two-yearly refit at A&P Falmouth.
The general cargo ship Musketier has been occupying number four dry dock where she has been undergoing tail-shaft repairs and the American offshore supply ship, Ocean Intervention II has been alongside at County Wharf. The vessel arrived for mobilisation and is due to return in mid-January for dry-docking.
In addition, RFA Lyme Bay and RFA Argus are currently at A&P Falmouth for their annual maintenance periods which are being carried out under A&P Defence’s Future In-Service Support (FISS) contract with the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) HMS Medway has undergone routine maintenance work as the vessel is prepared for deployment to the Caribbean and its sister ship, OPV HMS Mersey, will undergo a month-long refit as part of its scheduled maintenance period.
