The achievements of Eyal Ofer, the principal of Zodiac Group, have been celebrated with the award of honorary life membership of the Baltic Exchange. The prestigious award was last awarded in 2009 to the late Sammy Ofer, KBE, father of Mr Eyal Ofer. Other recipients of Baltic Exchange honorary membership have included the Duke of Edinburgh, Winston Churchill, and Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller.
Presenting the award Baltic Exchange chairman Quentin Soanes said:
“We thank you for your services to the London shipping market and the UK ship register. Life membership of the Baltic Exchange is the highest honour we can bestow and we congratulate you on your many successes in business and charitable activities.”
Receiving the award Eyal Ofer said: “I and Zodiac Maritime have a longstanding association with the Baltic Exchange which will always remain important to us. I am proud and delighted to receive this great honour, especially since it was accorded to my father and it’s an honour which I know he cherished in his lifetime.”
Eyal Ofer is principal of international shipping enterprise, Zodiac Group. He is Chairman of Zodiac Maritime, the London-based ship management company that operates a diversified fleet of over 130 vessels trading worldwide. Zodiac Group has been a member of the Baltic Exchange since 1976.
His other shipping assets include privately held OMNI Offshore Terminals, one of the largest private providers of floating production storage and offloading (FSO and FPSO) assets to the offshore oil and gas industry.
Eyal Ofer is also Chairman and principal of Global Holdings, Inc., a private US-based real estate holding company specialising in large-scale commercial real estate and high-end residential developments.
Eyal Ofer’s other major business interests include banking and cruise lines. He has served on the board of directors of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, the world’s second largest cruise line company, for over 15 years.
