ShipServe appoints new ‘solutions owner’ for e-procurement

Maritime e-procurement platform ShipServ today (12th February) announced the appointment of Frederik Lerche-Tornøe as its new Solutions Owner for e-Procurement.

Mr Lerche-Tornøe has a wealth of knowledge and experience of the shipping industry. Prior to joining ShipServ, he was a Director of Product Management at ShipNet, a provider of ERP software for the shipping industry. He also worked for a number of years with Maersk Tankers; firstly within engineering roles, and latterly as Innovation Manager for Digital Platforms and Data, where he was responsible for constructing the digital strategy for the technical department and driving the digitalisation of the organisation. He also has two degrees from Svendborg International Maritime Academy, as Master Mariner, and in Maritime Engineering.

In his new role at ShipServ, his main responsibility will be working on the new TradeNet platform, managing the e-procurement, and developing new modules and processes for both buyers and suppliers. He will work within the new Solutions division, which was established in 2018 to drive further customer engagement, as well as collaboration with partners and specialist vendors in the industry in order to extend and add to existing functionality, providing even better services and solutions for customers.

Commenting on the appointment, Henrik Hyldahn, Chief Solutions Officer, said: “Frederik has a long track record of success within shipping, and a real understanding of how digitalisation is transforming the industry. Our new Solutions division was established to build closer relationships with all our customers and those that use the platform, so that we can better understand the challenges that they face, and quickly create solutions to help overcome them. I am confident that Frederik’s expertise will further support us in rolling out new solutions that deliver real commercial value for our customers and continue the growth of ShipServ as the market’s leading e-procurement platform.”

Mr Lerche-Tornøe said: “I am delighted to be joining ShipServ at what is a crucial and transformative time within the shipping industry. While the industry faces many challenges, technology has the ability to be a positive disruptor in driving efficiencies, reducing costs, and improving competitiveness in an increasingly commoditised market. And for all within shipping, e-procurement is one of the first and most easy-to-adopt steps for a company to begin their digital journey. I have always admired ShipServ’s pioneering approach to developing its technology and platform, and its rapid growth over the past few years is evidence of its ability to continually evolve in line with the demands of the industry, and I am excited to help drive this forward, further cementing its position as the market leader.”
