Cyprus taking the lead in Women International Shipping & Trading Association

President of WISTA Cyprus Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou was unanimously elected as the new President of WISTA at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting in Rotterdam yesterday (Wednesday).

Mrs Theodosiou, Managing Director of Tototheo Maritime, is also Board Member of the Cyprus Chamber of Shipping, and the Chamber said her election was of great importance as it raises even more the profile of Cyprus on a global scale as a leading maritime centre that supports “the voice of women” in shipping.

The Chamber said it was proud to have one of its Board Members as President of the organisation, which has almost 3,000 members worldwide and promotes the advancement of women in the maritime industry.

A spokesman said: “The Chamber congratulates Mrs Theodosiou and wishes her every success in her new elected position.”

Diane Edwards, General Manager People, Systems and Technology Ports of Auckland was elected as International Secretary.
